“HALTEN SIE DIE SPANNUNG“
is the new Soundscape from the Berlin based French musician Laurent Jeanneau aka Kink Gong. This time stepping away from his recording of South East Asian minorities, Jeanneau creates a new sound scape with homemade instruments and collages of voices (from yoga breathing exercises to German language lessons) and other unusual spoken words.
Come to lie down, under IKSK’s pyramid, on the 4th floor of House 2 in Holzmarkt, for the Premiere of “HALTEN SIE DIE SPANNUNG“, a two and half hour of performance, on the 3rd of November from 7 to 10pm.

In the immense world of music, Laurent Jeanneau is without a doubt a unique character. This is due, partly, to his multidisciplinary DIY approach towards music, and also to his adventurous spirit that has been keeping him - and the Kink Gong project - active for several decades so far.
His large collection of ethnic minority music is made of things that are probably completely foreign to most of us. He spent a considerable amount of time recording it, mostly in South East Asia, and releasing the results on his own CDr label, Kink Gong Recordings, as well as occasionally contributing to Sublime Frequencies compilations.He also composes electronic music that manipulates, assembles and reconstructs those recordings, in order to create new soundscapes, which often seem ahead of their time. The results can be found in back catalogues from imprints such as Akuphone, ArteTetra, Discrepant or Atavistic.Under the name KINK GONG you find 2 activities, the 1st one is to record ethnic minority music mostly in south-east Asia, the 2nd is to transform, collage, recompose the original recordings into experimental soundscapes.

ist das neue Soundscape des in Berlin lebenden französischen Musikers Laurent Jeanneau alias Kink Gong. Diesmal löst sich Jeanneau von seinen Aufnahmen südostasiatischer Minderheiten und kreiert eine neue Klanglandschaft mit selbstgebauten Instrumenten und Collagen aus Stimmen (von Yoga-Atemübungen bis hin zu Deutschunterricht) und anderen ungewöhnlichen gesprochenen Worten.
Kommen Sie zur Premiere von "HALTEN SIE DIE SPANNUNG", einer zweieinhalbstündigen Performance, am 3. November von 19 bis 22 Uhr unter der IKSK-Pyramide im 4. Stock des Hauses 2 am Holzmarkt.

In der riesigen Welt der Musik ist Laurent Jeanneau zweifellos eine einzigartige Persönlichkeit. Das liegt zum einen an seinem multidisziplinären DIY-Ansatz und zum anderen an seinem Abenteuergeist, der ihn - und das Projekt Kink Gong - seit mehreren Jahrzehnten in Bewegung hält.

Er hat viel Zeit damit verbracht, sie vor allem in Südostasien aufzunehmen und die Ergebnisse auf seinem eigenen CD-Label Kink Gong Recordings zu veröffentlichen sowie gelegentlich zu Sublime Frequencies-Compilations beizutragen. Er komponiert auch elektronische Musik, die diese Aufnahmen manipuliert, zusammensetzt und rekonstruiert, um neue Klanglandschaften zu schaffen, die oft ihrer Zeit voraus zu sein scheinen. Unter dem Namen KINK GONG finden sich zwei Aktivitäten, zum einen die Aufnahme von Musik ethnischer Minderheiten vor allem in Südostasien, zum anderen die Transformation, Collage und Neukomposition der Originalaufnahmen zu experimentellen Klanglandschaften.
